The story behind the shop…

Welcome to the first ever blogpost from Eighty7 Design + Living. Here on the blog you’ll be able to see what we’re up, what’’s new at the shop and online and other bits and bobs, which hopefully you’ll find interesting.

Firstly, let me introduce myself and the shop: I’m Helena and I’m Danish and have lived here in Aberdeen since 2005 to live with my Aberdonian husband. After having our 2 daughters in 2006 and 2010, it was time for me to return to work. So we decided to take the plunge and realise our dream of having our own shop selling Danish and Scandinavian homeware and gifts!

As luck would have it, 68D Countesswells Road was available and perfect for our little venture. With a little TLC the shop was ready to open in March 2013!

When we opened the doors that first day, looking back the shop was not exactly full to bursting, however we had a good base with some great Scandinavian products and also some really good and innovative UK brands.

Now, nearly 18 months later, we have increased our amount of brands and products significantly, and we believe we provide a very wide, varied and interesting selection of gifts and ‘stuff’ for your home – gadgets, useful things and pretty things.
